Girls of the Run® Simcoe County
  
Girls on the Run® Simcoe County began in September 2003 at Tecumseth Beeton Public School with 26 participants.The spring 2010 program will serve over 1000 girls and over 100 coaches.
Our goal is to bring this life changing program to as many girls in Simcoe County as possible regardless of atheltic ability and financial barriers.

Board of Directors:
Girls on the Run® Simcoe County is a non-profit incorported organization that is
governed by a Board of Directors. Contact Girls on the Run® Simcoe County for a list of directors.
 
 
Objective:
To reduce the potential display of at-risk activities among its participants by encouraging positive emotional, social, mental, and physical development of pre-adolescent girls.
 
 
Benefits:

• Improve physical health and fitness
 
 
Results:
• Girls who participate in physical activities are 40% less likely to smoke, have higher
   levels of self-esteem, positive body images, and lower levels of depression
• Girls who have experienced emotional trauma respond postiviely to physical fitness
   programs
• Non-competitive sports programs build self-esteem in girls faster than competitive
  sports programs
